Example A: inflation

Did inflation after 2020 hit ASEAN harder than the G7?

The mean adds the country results and divides by the number of countries. The median is the middle country result when sorted. Each country counts equally, regardless of its population or economy.

The numbers behind the answer

Peak is the highest annual rate in 2021 to 2023. Cumulative rise compounds all six annual rates, including 2020. Group rows summarise country results, with equal weight for each country. Missing results say “no data” and are excluded from group summaries.
